Parent Resource To Help You

Do you want to help your child’s brain grow and develop?  Of course you do.  Well we have a suggestion for a parent resource you can check out:  First Five California, which, like us at www.pelicanfamily.com,  has the purpose of supporting the healthy development of children from birth to 5 years old.  They have a wonderful parent resource site you can find here.  They point out that up to 90% of brain development is in the first 5 years of life, so you cannot wait until your child goes to school to have someone pay attention to their learning.  You need to do it yourself, from birth.   And, IT’S NOT THAT HARD.  EVERY PARENT CAN DO IT!  Talking to your child, singing to your child, and reading to your child are some of the most important things you can do to encourage brain growth.

On this parent resource site there are sections on Health, Learning and Activities, with lots of good ideas that you can use right away.   Free music is there for you and your little one, as well as activities for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.  And there are links for services and supports.  Take a look at what they have to offer.  And, don’t forget.  Start reading to your child from birth!
